Thomas W. Gilbert, AIA, REFP, presented to the Widener University students enrolled in the School Planning and Design Graduate Course at the Eastern Mennonite College Campus on May 31, 2017. Adjunct Professor David M. Rentschler, Ed.D., Doctor of Education Program and retired administrator with the School District of Lancaster, has brought many future school superintendents to Gilbert Architects’ Corporate office over the past decade for a first-hand look at the partnership and responsibilities between the architect and the school district to successfully navigate through a construction project. After giving an overview of the design and construction process, Tom presented a case study of the Abington High School educational specifications development and how they translate and work together with the development of the high school schematic design process. Participants feedback was overwhelmingly positive.
