On Thursday, September 2, 2021 the Appoquinimink School District dedicated its newest Pre-K to K school, Brick Mill Early Childhood Center.
State Senator Stephanie L. Hansen and State Representative Kevin S. Hensley were among several guest speakers, along with other school district administration. Thomas W. Gilbert, AIA, President of Gilbert Architects presented the golden key to learning plaque to Principal Tracy Calhoun. Self-guided tours for grades Pre-K to K followed the ceremony, with teachers greeting new students in their classrooms.
The Spanish Immersion kindergarten classrooms have a 50/50 mix of English and Spanish language instruction. There are eight traditional (English-only) kindergarten classes. This is the first time Appoquinimink School District has preschool and kindergarten instruction in one building.
Principal Tracy Calhoun shared that the Brick Mill Early Childhood Center is the friendliest and most inviting school in the district.
