Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School

Modernizing the library into a bright media hub
Renovations to the high school’s 8,227-square-foot library completely transformed the legacy space into an inviting, high-tech student hub.
To flood the interior with natural light, crews removed an existing second-story balcony and installed new windows alongside updated flooring, finishes, and flexible furnishings. The project also introduced a brand-new multimedia room directly adjacent to the main library footprint and fully overhauled the bibliographic instruction computer lab.
Student-centered amenities for collaborative study
The redesigned floor plan focuses on creating a welcoming atmosphere that encourages independent research, group collaboration, and extended study sessions.
To elevate the spatial experience and draw more students into the facility throughout the school day, the design integrates a dedicated café bar directly within the library footprint, blending modern academic resources with a comfortable, collegiate environment.
